Our client, a manufacturing company based in Chippenham, is currently looking to secure a Mechanical Test Technician on a contract basis.

Position: Mechanical Test
Location: Chippenham
Hours: Days
Pay rate: £8.00 per hour

Skills required:

• Previous mechanical testing experience.
• Manufacturing background.
• The successful Candidate will be able to interpret test specifications.
• The ability to use basic hand tools and interpret basic mechanical assembly drawings.
• Mechanical Knowledge.
• The testing work will be carried out on a bespoke in house test jig and training on how to use this will be given.


This role may involve some basic mechanical assembly:

• Mechanical build of subassemblies
• Mounting subassemblies on to plates
• Working to basic mechanical assembly drawings and schedules (photographs)
• Basic soldering skills


Role: Specific training will be given however; a sound mechanical testing background is required for this role

Product Engineer (Marketing) – Negotiable

This position is for a Product Engineer working in the Marketing department, assisting in the promotion of high power semiconductor products. As part of the role the successful applicant will have to liaise closely with the companies customers, providing application and product selection. Position would suit a design or applications engineer working in the field of high power electronics equipment wishing to take on a more commercial role. Once developed in the role the willingness to travel and support customers in the field is essential.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Support the sales organisation with answers to technical enquiries and act as liaison with other functional departments including technical support and product
design.
• Provide the sales organisation with product recommendations and pricing for customer bespoke products
• Assist in the generation and maintenance of product price lists for distribution to all routes to sales
• Identify new business opportunities and offer product design in support to sales organisation
• Assess and communicate new product requirements to the development engineers
• Implement the launch of new products, including the generation of associated marketing literature and pricing structures
Skills /Qualifications
• Qualified to degree electrical/electronic engineering or HND/C with relevant additional experience.
• Candidate should ideally have experience in design and or application of high power electronic equipment in the drives, utilities or similar industries
• The ability to communicate on a technical level in languages in addition to English would be an advantage

BACKGROUND
Our client is a private company, venture capital backed, and a leader in the recovery of exhaust energy to increase the efficiency of reciprocating engines. They have a proven and innovative Turbogenerator product, and is working with several US and European truck OEM’s to introduce this product to heavy vehicles.
In 2010 the company established commercial contracts in Power Generation and has a >£30m order book for this sector. To meet ambitious growth plans, they now wish to further expand its commercial team with an additional technical Sales Manager for the Power Generation sector, reporting to the Commercial Director.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• The focus of this role is the Power Generation sector, particularly prime power genset applications in the 200kW-2MW range. Products are aimed at genset packagers, engine OEMs and end users with large fleets, for both new and retrofit sale.
• The prime responsibility is to add value in all aspects of new client acquisition and account development. The successful candidate would be expected to take personal responsibility for a number of accounts.
• Candidates will possess the capability, competence and credibility to take day-to-day responsibility for:
o product presentations
o preparation of commercial proposals
o technical sales activity and sales administration
o key account management
o trade shows and publicity activities
• A moderate amount of travel is required within the UK and overseas.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• A Technical Sales/Commercial/Product Engineering background in the diesel /gas engine power generation sector. Candidates must have possess the technical competence to present and discuss the product range. Likely to have worked for a genset packager, engine OEM, alternator manufacturer, or a key equipment supplier (eg turbochargers).
• Knowledge and understanding of project economics, especially renewables, would be an advantage.
• Previous experience in preparing commercial proposals is expected.
• Candidates should have a good knowledge of the key genset packagers and specifiers and will already possess a strong relevant contact database.
• Candidates are likely to hold a formal qualification in engineering, purchasing or marketing.
• A successful track record of relevant Sales achievement - account penetration, management and development - is essential.
•Understanding of how new p products are introduced to the sector, and be able to develop appropriate techniques for both new and retrofit applications.
•Publicity and/or Marketing experience would be beneficial.
• influencing skills are a necessity.
• A key requirement for these roles is that candidates possess the character, ability and willingness to work in a flexible and supportive manner, as part of a small team within in a fast growing company operating in a complex and dynamic business environment.

To agree specifications with the customer and working with a team of engineers supply solutions meeting those requirements. In detail:
 Developing requirements specifications with the customer
 Developing the work programmes needed to take our standard product blocks and building them into the overall solution
 Delivering these solutions all the way from concept demonstrator phase through prototype manufacture, assembly, testing, cost reduction and on to volume manufacture
 “Hands on” activities for new builds, component measurement, tests and trouble shooting
 Supplying clear documentation to Production, support team and the customer’s support team.

MAIN DUTIES

1. To establish, maintain and manage a strong relationships with new and existing suppliers at all levels, to include successful negotiations on cost, quality and service.
2. To place and progress all purchase orders using either the company’s ERP system, obtaining quotations where appropriate.
3. To liaise with and advise Manufacturing Project Managers on status of orders.
4. To source supplies of all transmission consumables/services including many specially made to order items such as bearings, seals, springs and filters.
5. To purchase all raw materials, either directly from the manufacturer or from specialist stockholders for all other materials, to include ‘free issue’ stock from customers.
6. To receipt raw materials into stock.
7. To maintain accurate stock records.
8. To organizing regular material stock-checks.
9. To order all printed stationary, letterheads, compliment slips, business cards and the like.
10. To help and support all the foremen with their purchasing activities and to manage the suppliers they are working with.
11. To liaise with Purchase Ledger Administrator regarding invoicing discrepancies.
12. To liaise with Payroll Controller regarding all credit card purchases.
13. To seek approval for purchases outside of job holders level of authority.
14. To attend annual Performance Management and Review Meetings and agree annual objectives and a Personal Development Plan (PDP).
