The Role
An innovative and rapidly growing medical device manufacturer is seeking a Project Development / Manufacturing Engineer to support the next phase of commercialisation and manufacturing excellence.
The business operates within a highly regulated ISO13485 environment and is committed to delivering market-leading orthopaedic implant solutions. Backed by private investment, the organisation is focused on scaling operations while maintaining exceptional quality and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
This is a hands-on, detail-driven engineering position focused on driving manufacturing processes toward zero defects, improving process capability, and enhancing operational performance.
You will:
Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods
Analyse process deviations, trends and performance data
Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean tools (Kaizen, VSM, PFMEA)
Program and operate CNC machinery (including CAD/CAM interfaces such as AlphaCAM)
Support validation, documentation and regulatory compliance (ISO13485, GMP)
Assist in SOP creation, risk assessments (PUWER, COSHH) and training materials
Maintain production equipment and optimise output
Liaise with design and planning teams to ensure manufacturability
Contribute to KPI reporting and structured project planning
This role offers exposure to new product introduction (NPI) and bespoke implant manufacturing within a regulated medical environment.
Requirements
Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering role
Experience within a regulated manufacturing environment (medical devices preferred)
Strong understanding of CNC machining & CAD/CAM (AlphaCAM desirable)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience with Lean manufacturing tools
Knowledge of ISO13485 and GMP principles
Strong problem-solving and project delivery skills
Experience with SolidWorks advantageous
