Monday to Friday, 8-hour Day Shift

A leading engineering and manufacturing company supplying specialised equipment to the converting and print industries worldwide is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their dynamic team in Somerset. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fitter to contribute to the assembly and production of special purpose machines, ensuring high-quality standards.

The Role:

  • Assemble components and sub-assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications

  • Utilise hand tools and power tools for efficient assembly and fabrication tasks

  • Fit bearings, taper lock pulleys, and gears

  • Run pneumatic and hydraulic pipework

  • Conduct quality checks to ensure adherence to stringent standards

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all safety protocols

  • Collaborate with team members to optimise production processes and resolve issues

The Person:

  • Fully time-served mechanical fitter/engineer with a mechanical engineering qualification

  • Proficient in using hand tools and power tools for assembly and fabrication

  • Experience with machine tools is an advantage

  • Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Experience working with pneumatics and hydraulics

  • Fabrication experience is desirable

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to set a positive example for team members

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
