Rate/Salary: £50,000 – 70,000

Hours: Full Time -Monday to Friday

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Senior Embedded Engineer

Bridgewater

£50,000 to £70,000 DOE + Benefits

Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00 (expected to stay late due to high project demands)

Senior embedded engineer sought within a Bridgewater based cutting edge special purpose electronics manufacturer who have opened a new site and are going through a large expansion process period due to high customer demands which can offer ongoing training and development.

The role will be suited an experienced senior embedded engineer from any electronics manufacturing background, experience working with either PIC, Atmel AVR or ARM microcontrollers as well as motor control programming will be highly advantageous, but all senior embedded engineers will be considered. You will have strong programming language experience with emphasis on C/C++.

The core function of the role will be the programming of microcontrollers starting from proof of concept, through to pre-production and production versions. You will form part of the whole design and development process; this will include fault finding debugging and working closely with peers to minimise project delay. In addition, you will work closely with the project manager implementing key decisions on senior projects as well as training and mentoring junior staff onsite. You will also play a key part in the higher level projects which in turn will need a good comprehension of motor control programming experience as well as the understanding of motor control and power electronics, wireless and app development experience will be highly advantageous. You will have good commercial awareness with the ability to work to planned costs and timescales. You will also play a key role in project meetings with the project manager and assist technically on the entire project process.

The role in brief:

*Programme microcontrollers starting from proof of concept, through to pre-production and production versions.

*Hardware programming to customer requirements.

*Fault finding / debugging

*Write and update firmware documentation

*Train / mentor less experienced staff.

The person required:

*Experience working with either PIC, Atmel AVR or ARM microcontrollers

*In-depth knowledge of C/C++

*Motor control programming experience

*Understanding of motor control and power electronics

*Wireless communications (Bluetooth, Wifi) and App development

*Experience in GUI interfaces and working with Visual Studio

*Knowledge of SQL database

*Understanding of field bus protocols such as Canbus, Modbus, Ethercat, Profibus, Profinet

*Experience with FPGA programming using Verilog/VHDL

*Proven experience in a similar role.

*The ability to read electronic schematics and recommend suitable microcontroller hardware with various peripherals for application-specific requirements.
